Maize, Connolly Both Tapped for BIG EAST Weekly Honor Roll

NEW YORK - After a dominant weekend at Providence, DePaul softball's Mary Connolly and Morgan Maize each received spots on the BIG EAST Weekly Honor Roll.

The Blue Demons went 2-2 on the week, improving to 20-8 overall on the season and staying perfect in BIG EAST Conference action at 4-0.

Maize had a dominant Saturday against Providence, batting 5-for-7 with two home runs and seven RBI in a doubleheader sweep -- including her second grand slam of the season.

The sophomore third baseman batted .500 overall for the week and set career-highs for RBI (6) and runs (3) while recording her first multi-homer game in a 12-0 win at Providence. She tied for a team-high with 11 total bases during the week's four games and added two walks at Louisville to finish the week with a .583 on-base percentage.

Connolly connected for two home runs, launching a three-run shot at Louisville and a two-run shot at Providence. The junior first baseman led the Blue Demons with five runs scored this week and recorded RBI's in three-of-four games, while tying for a team-high with 11 total bases.

Additionally, Connolly added a five-inning shutout win over Providence on Saturday. She improved to 3-2 overall with four strikeouts, allowing just three hits in a 12-0 win.

The Blue Demons return home to Lincoln Park this weekend, hosting Notre Dame and Seton Hall at Cacciatore Stadium. DePaul faces the Fighting Irish at 5:00 p.m. on Friday before getting back to conference play with a 12:00 p.m. start for a doubleheader against the Pirates. On Sunday, SHU and DePaul finish up the series at 11:00 a.m.
