DePaul's offense exploded during the series and combined for 19 hits and 17 RBI. The freshman duo of Stephanie Blagaich and Amber Patton led the Blue Demon charge, each recording three hits. Blagaich was a single away from hitting through the cycle and notched a team high six RBI and Patton was credited with two RBI.
Sophomore Marcy Wilus' bottom of the seventh two-run home run propelled the Blue Demons to a 5-4 win in the first game of the day.
DePaul found itself in a deficit early as an error at short stop came back to haunt the Blue Demons in the first inning. Micah Truax reached on an error and scored two batters later on Allie Gendron's RBI-double that put the Huskies up 1-0.
The Blue Demons captured the lead in fourth inning, posting three runs on one hit. Blagiach's triple to right center scored two-runs and she crossed the plate on Kara Amundson's sacrifice fly.
Blagaich (2-1) threw her second complete game of the season to take the win. She gave up eight hits while fanning a season high five batters.
UConn used three pitchers in the first game with Krista Micalczyk taking the loss.
The second game saw DePaul register a season high 13 runs and 12 RBI as they defeated the Huskies 13-5 in five innings.
The Blue Demons batted around the order and posted six run in the second inning of the nightcap. DePaul loaded the bases on two walks and a UConn error and followed that with three singles in a row. Kate Sheaks and Sandy Vojik were credited with RBI-singles, while Jackie Tarulli-Fisher got on base with a single to the left side. Blagaich cleared the bases two batters later on a double to the left side.
UConn answered in the third inning scoring one run on two hits and a Blue Demon error; however DePaul's offense responded in the bottom half inning, posting another six runs.
DePaul used an RBI single by Sandy Vojik, a two-run home run by Blagaich and a three-run shot by Sheaks to take a 12-1 advantage at the end of three.
The Huskies staged a come-back by posting four runs in the top of the fourth but the Blue Demons would seal their victory in the fifth inning.
Amber Patton led off the bottom half of the fifth inning with a single to right field and scored the winning run on Sara Polensky's RBI double.
The trio of senior Leslie Scott, junior Kate Sheaks and Blagaich shared the pitching duties in game two, with Scott (1-1) recording the win. The trio gave up 11 hits and struck out three.
Rachel Crossin (2-3) was tabbed with the loss for the Huskies.
