Seton Hall Sweeps Blue Demons

SOUTH ORANGE, NJ.   Seton Hall completed the sweep over No. 18/24 DePaul with a 3-0, BIG EAST Conference victory at Ivy Hill.  Seton Hall improves 13-18 and 2-6 in league play, while the Blue Demons fall to 22-12 and are 1-3 in conference action.

Seton Hall took an early 3-0 and Pirate pitcher Ashley Forsyth had a perfect game going into the six inning, before the Blue Demons tallied hits in the sixth and seventh frame.

The Pirates got on the board quickly when Kealan Waldron connected on a two-run home run in the first inning.

Waldron was also responsible for Seton Hall’s final run of the ballgame, when her RBI single shot back-up the middle.

Forsyth (7-9) retired DePaul’s first 15 batters before Marie Thompson launched a single to left field.  Forsyth finished with five strikeouts while scattering a pair of hit.

Lauren Frankiewicz (8-5) took the loss, while throwing just three innings, before being replaced by Lindsey Dean.  Dean threw the fourth inning before Becca Heteniak closed out the game.  Frankiewicz was charged with all three runs, walked three and struck out one.

The Blue Demons return to action Sunday at St. John’s.  The conference doubleheader is scheduled for 10 a.m. at Red Storm Field.
