Softball Sweeps Southern Miss

CHICAGO- The DePaul softball team completed its three-game sweep over Southern Miss, Sunday afternoon at Wish Field. The Blue Demons defeated the Golden Eagles 7-1 in Conference
DePaul needed just two innings to score seven runs; they posted runs in the fourth and sixth innings.
Southern Miss was the first score, capitalizing on a Blue Demon error in the top of the fourth.
The Blue Demon offense bounced back in the bottom of the fourth to score three runs. Senior short stop Jenny Doezie connected on a triple down the right field line to plate two runners. Sophomore Linda Secka was also credited with an RBI single in the inning.
Southern Miss threatened in top of the sixth inning, but with one runner on Allison Bullard grounded into a double play at short stop to end the inning.
The base paths heated up in the sixth inning for the Blue Demon. Doezie jump started the inning with a double to right center and stole home on a double steal with Sandy Vojik, who was on first. Two batters later, junior Sara Bandauski connected on her first collegiate home run to put the Blue Demons up 7-1. Freshman Marcy Willus was also credited with an RBI single in the inning.
Sophomore Tracie Adix (13-3) recorded the win for the Blue Demons in the circle. The sophomore threw six innings and sophomore Megan Huitink closed out the game, pitching the final inning.
Krystal Crooks (10-9) recorded the loss for Southern Miss.
