Softball Takes Two From Valparaiso

VALPARAISO, Ind. – The DePaul softball team powered its way through a doubleheader with Valparaiso, Wednesday afternoon at the Valparaiso Softball Field. The Blue Demons won the first-game 9-1 in five innings and the second game 2-0. The Blue Demons improve to 32-14 on the season, while

The Crusaders recorded their lone run of the day in the third inning, scoring on Megan Carroll’s single up the middle.
DePaul tacked on two more runs in the top of fourth. With two outs, Secka doubled and scored on Roberson’s single to center.
The Blue Demons capped of the scoring in the fifth inning on Wilus’ home run to straight away center.
Sophomore Tracie Adix recorded the win for the Blue Demons, throwing her 15th complete game of the season. The sophomore (18-5) allowed just five hits in five innings of work. Atteberry (4-11) recorded the loss, giving up three walks and three hits in one inning of work. Andrea Zappia threw the final four innings for the Crusaders.
Sophomore Megan Huitink (14-9) recorded her fourth shutout of the season in the second game of the twinbill. The sophomore gave up just one hit while striking out six Crusader batters.
The Blue Demons notched their first run in the third inning. Doezie led off the inning with a single and scored on fielder’s choice. Secka also recorded a hit in the inning.
Doezie crossed the plate again in the fifth inning, but this time she did it on her own sending a bomb over the left field fence.
DePaul won the second game, 2-0.
