BIG EAST Selects Dean, Braden for Honor Roll
May 2, 2011
CHICAGO - For the third time this season, DePaul was a multiple winner in the BIG EAST Conference weekly awards.
Dean picked up her second Honor Roll accolade after going 2-0 with one save and a miniscule 0.57 earned run average in the Blue Demons' 6-0 week.
The right-hander gave up just one run in 12.1 innings and had 13 strikeouts.
Braden earned her first weekly award after batting .538 (7-for-13) with six RBIs, one triple, one run scored. Her .692 slugging percentage and .529 on-base percentage helped DePaul extend its season-high winning streak to 14 games.
A large part of that recent success has been a stellar defense. The Blue Demons have made just two errors in the last 16 games and were the No. 4 defensive team in the country last week.
Braden was flawless in the field during the six games last week while handling 24 chances. Her terrific backhand play took a hit away from Connecticut in Sunday's 2-1 victory at Cacciatore Stadium.
Dean retired four consecutive Huskie hitters in relief for her third save of the season.
On April 18, Verdun and Bree Brown both made the Honor Roll.
DePaul has a 4 p.m. game Wednesday against Northern Illinois at Cacciatore Stadium.
