Rain Cancels Georgetown Doubleheader, DePaul Wins BIG EAST Regular Season Title
WASHINGTON, D.C. The No. 19/20 DePaul softball team's BIG EAST Conference doubleheader at Georgetown on Sunday has been cancelled and will not be made up. The Blue Demons won the BIG EAST Conference regular season and will be the No. 1 seed at the BIG EAST Championship May 7-9.
The doubleheader was the season finale for both programs. Heading into the final weekend of league play, the Blue Demons (35-11, 18-3 BIG EAST) are tied with Notre Dame (37-14, 18-3) for the top spot in the conference standings. The Irish and Louisville (45-7, 18-4 BIG EAST) play a league twinbill today at 11 a.m. (CST) on ESPNU. The BIG EAST Conference Championship is scheduled to begin on May 7 at Ulmer Stadium on Louisville’s campus. Pairings will be announced as soon as all conference games are complete.
