Softball Ends Regular Season With A Victory
CHICAGO – The No. 6 DePaul softball team ended regular season play on Sunday with a 6-2 victory over Louisville. The Blue Demons (43-5-1, 22-2 C-USA) posted a perfect record at Wish Field after going undefeated in their 17 home games.
The Demons scored one run in the first inning when Sarah Martz stole home on a passed ball. They tallied another run in the second when Christina Douglas homered over the left field fence.
Louisville rallied back in the top of the third off two hits. Nicole Sparks singled to left field to score Shannon Nord who bunted to get on.
The Cardinals tied the game 2-2 in the fifth when, with two outs, Keola Calderon singled to score Lacy Wood.
The Demons quickly re-claimed the lead in the bottom of inning, scoring a run when Sarah Douglas singled to score pinch runner Ashley Parker.
Saskia Roberson put all tensions to rest in the sixth when she lofted a three-run homer way over the left field fence.
Lindsay Chouinard (28-4) earned the win with seven strikeouts in seven innings.
The Blue Demons will head to the Conference USA Tournament in Houston on Thursday where they will attempt to defend their title.
