Amber Patton and Becca Heteniak Earn Academic All-District Honors



CHICAGO DePaul softball players, Amber Patton and Becca Heteniak were named first-team ESPN The Magazine Academic All-District and will now appear on the national ballot and are eligible to be Academic All-Americans.

Patton a senior third baseman, leads the country with a .518 average and was recently named a top-10 finalist for the USA Softball Collegiate Player of the Year Award.  The All-American boasts a 3.38 GPA in marketing at DePaul and is a finalist for the Lowe’s Senior Class Award. Patton a first-team All-BIG EAST selection leads the Blue Demons in .569 on base percentage and is second on the team with a .662 slugging percentage.

Heteniak picked up her second BIG EAST Conference Pitcher of the Year award earlier this week and boasts a 23-6 record in the circle, while she leads the team with 47 RBI and a .700 slugging percentage to earn first team all-conference at the utility position.  A junior majoring in mathematics, the All-American has a 3.69 GPA. 

The DePaul softball program boasts 17 Academic All-Americans while Heteniak and Patton become the programs 28th and 29th all-district selections.

The Blue Demons face USF in the semifinals of the BIG EAST Championship on Friday at 11 a.m. (CST).
