May 10, 2018

CHICAGO – The 2018 College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) Google Cloud Academic All-District® Softball Teams have been released, recognizing the nation’s top student-athletes for their combined performances athletically and in the classroom.

Junior Morgan Greenwood of the DePaul softball team was among the District 5 recipients in 2018 as a First Team selection.

With her selection as a District 5 honoree, Greenwood is now eligible for the CoSIDA Academic All-America Team that will be announced in June.  The Academic All-District® teams include the student-athletes in eight geographic districts across the United States and Canada. The CoSIDA Academic All-America® separately recognizes honorees in four divisions — NCAA Division I, NCAA Division II, NCAA Division III and College Division. The College Division includes all NAIA, Canadian and two-year schools.

Greenwood carries a 3.78 grade point average while majoring in health sciences.

On the field, Greenwood drove in 27 runs on 43 hits, including 12 doubles and six home runs. She carried a .421 on-base percentage while boasting a .533 slugging percentage.  Greenwood was named an All-BIG EAST First Team member on Thursday and has also received recognition from the BIG EAST on two other occasions this season, being named the conference’s Player of the Week on February 19 while garnering a Weekly Honor Roll mention on March 5.

The Blue Demons finished as the regular season BIG EAST champion, going 15-3 in conference play while posting a 33-15 overall record.

DePaul begins its quest for back-to-back BIG EAST tournament titles on Friday at noon.
