Sandy Vojik Named ESPN the Magazine First Team Academic All-District
CHICAGO -- DePaul senior outfielder Sandy Vojik was named first team ESPN The Magazine Academic All-District as announced by CoSIDA. As a first-team selection in district five, Vojik is now eligible to appear on the national Academic All-America ballot. Vojik is on track to graduate with a degree in fitness and sport management and plans to enroll in graduate school to pursue a degree in physical therapy. A ESPN.com preseason All-American, Vojik leads the team with 10 home runs, two triples and a .547 slugging percentage. Earlier this year, Vojik was named DePaul's 2007-08 BIG EAST/Aropostale Institutional Female Scholar-Athlete. She has also been named a BIG EAST Academic All-Star as well as to DePaul's Deans List and Athletic Director's Academic Honor Roll. Last week, Vojik was named first team All-BIG EAST at the utility position. The senior from Riverside, Ill., is also a finalist for the Lowe's Senior Class Award. The Blue Demons begin the NCAA Regional play on Friday. DePaul, the No. 2 seed at the Evanston Regional, opens plays with the No. 3 seed Drake. Play begins at noon at Northwestern's Sharon J. Drysdale Field.
