Women's Tennis Falls To No. 7 Texas A&M

COLLEGE STATION, Texas -- Making its first appearance in the Round of 32 at the ITA Indoor Qualifier, the DePaul women's tennis team dropped a 4-1 decision to No. 7 Texas A&M on Sunday afternoon.

DePaul falls to 1-1 with the loss, while Texas A&M improves to 2-0.

Ana Vladutu registered the only win of the day for the Blue Demons, topping Anna Mamalat in straight sets, 6-4, 6-0. Rebeca Mitrea pushed Jana McCord to three sets in the No. 6 match but ultimately fell, 3-6, 6-0, 1-0 (8).

Patricia Fargas fell to 14th-ranked Cristina Stancu in the No. 1 match, 6-2, 6-3, and Jasmin Kling dropped a 6-2, 6-2 decision to Saska Gavrilovska. Kelsey Lawson's No. 4 match and Zaina Sufi's No. 5 match were left unfinished.

The Blue Demons dropped all three doubles matches to the Aggies.

DePaul heads home to Chicago after its two-day stint in College Station. The Blue Demons open up a three-match homestand on Jan. 31 against TCU. Match time is slated for 1 p.m.
