Women's Tennis Scores Huge Win Over No. 25 TCU

CHICAGO -- A busy weekend for the No. 74 DePaul women's tennis team got off to a tremendous start on Friday afternoon in Chicago.
The Blue Demons knocked off No. 25 TCU, 4-0, to improve to 2-1 for the year. The Horned Frogs fell to 3-2.
DePaul started the day by taking the doubles point from TCU. Patricia Fargas and Ana Vladutu topped Millie Nichols and Seda Arantekin, 6-3, in the No. 1 match to secure the point after Jasmin Kling and Kelsey Lawson won the No. 2 match by virtue of a TCU injury. Rebeca Mitrea and Zaina Sufi were leading the No. 3 match over Mimi Fotopoulos and Sofiko Kadzhaya, 5-4, before the match was left unfinished.
In singles play, Vladutu, Sufi and Mitrea registered victories to seal the match for the Blue Demons. Vladutu beat Nichols (6-4, 6-4) in the No. 2 match, Sufi toppled Monika Sirilova, 6-2, 6-0, in the No. 5 match and Mitrea defeated Tatum Nowlin (6-1, 6-4) in the No. 6 match.
The victory over TCU kicks off a three-match homestand for the Blue Demons. Tomorrow, DePaul faces No. 65 Louisville in Chicago. Match time is slated for 2 p.m.
