Blue Demons Make It 10 Straight With 7-0 Win Over Seton Hall

ANNAPOLIS, Md. -- The DePaul women's tennis team picked up its 10th consecutive victory on Saturday morning in Annapolis, Md.
The No. 45 Blue Demons topped Seton Hall, 7-0, to improve to 11-1. The Pirates fell to 3-3.
DePaul took all eight matches from Seton Hall to secure the victory. The Blue Demons have won their last four matches by a score of 7-0. They won the doubles point thanks to wins in the No. 2 and No. 3 slots to start the day. Jasmin Kling and Kelsey Lawson defeated Madison Shoemaker and Hannah Liljekvist, 8-0, at No. 2 doubles, while Zaina Sufi and Jarret Fisher took care of business in the No. 3 match, topping Alex Landert and Julia Keenan, 8-1.
In the singles matches, Sufi put DePaul up 2-0 with a convincing 6-0, 6-1 triumph over Keenan in the No. 4 match. Sufi, the reigning BIG EAST Player of the Week, is now 21-5 overall and 11-0 in dual matches. Then, Rebeca Mitrea improved to 11-1 in dual play by posting her 10th straight victory, a 6-3, 6-0 win over Shoemaker at No. 5 singles.
Lawson clinched the match with a 6-2, 6-0 win over Rocio Portela in the No. 3 singles match. Lawson is now 17-8 overall and 9-1 in dual competition.
DePaul's final three matches featured wins by Fisher (No. 6), Patricia Fargas (No. 1) and Kling (No. 2). Fisher dominated Julie Martiny, 6-0, 6-0, Fargas defeated Chloe Sher, 6-2, 7-5, and Kling (9-1) won her ninth straight match by virtue of a hard-fought 7-6, 6-4 win over Liljekvist.
The Blue Demons have one more match to conclude their trip to the east coast and it will take place later today. DePaul will face a tough Navy squad (11-2) at 1 p.m.
