Women's Tennis Falls to #9 Virginia

MONTGOMERY, Ala. - The No. 48 DePaul women's tennis team fell to No. 9 Virginia 4-0 in the opening round of Blue Gray National Tennis Classic on Friday at the Lagoon Park Tennis Center. The Blue Demons fall into consolation bracket and face Auburn on Saturday at 8:30 a.m. Virginia took the doubles point and an early 1-0 lead with wins on the first and third courts. DePaul's No. 55 pair of Katarina Milinkovic and Gia McKnight fell to No. 10 Emily Fraser and Hana Tomljanovic, 8-1. The Blue Demons duo is now 1-2 against pairs ranked in the top 35. The Cavilers clinched the doubles points on the third court when No. 51 Maria Fuccillo and Rashmi Teltumbde topped Cali Gustafson and Christiana Raymond, 8-4. Virginia captured wins second, fourth and fifth courts to seal the victory. DePaul falls to 7-5 on the season, while all five of its losses have come to ranked teams.
