No. 66 DePaul Women's Tennis Falls 5-2 at No. 18 Notre Dame

SOUTH BEND, Ind. - No. 66 DePaul women's tennis got a big win from Matea Cutura at first singles and another at the two spot, but it wasn't enough to take down 18th-ranked Notre Dame on Saturday at the Eck Tennis Pavilion. Cutura, ranked 85th in the latest ITA poll, improved to an impressive 5-1 overall against ranked opponents with a gritty 7-5, 3-6, 11-9 win over No. 42 Britney Sanders at the top spot. The Blue Demons got another win at the second position, where sophomore Patricia Fargas came back after dropping her first set to defeat Jennifer Kellner 3-6, 6-1, 10-3. Notre Dame got on the board first with a doubles sweep and built its lead to 5-0, clinching the match with a win on court four before DePaul claimed two points at the top two spots to close out the match. As a team, DePaul drops to 9-4 overall with the setback and 1-2 against BIG EAST opponents. The Irish improved to 9-3 on the season. DePaul squares off with Indiana to wrap up the weekend tomorrow.
