Women's Tennis Beats Butler, Saturday Showdown Set at Indiana

INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. -- The DePaul women's tennis team had no trouble with Butler on Friday morning, taking care of the Bulldogs, 7-0, for its 14th consecutive victory.
The No. 41 Blue Demons improved to 15-1 overall and 3-0 against BIG EAST opponents. Butler fell to 2-9 with the loss. The match comes just one day before DePaul battles No. 34 Indiana in a critical match at 11 a.m. Saturday morning.
The Blue Demons opened up the day by winning the No. 1 and No. 3 doubles matches to secure the point. Patricia Fargas and Ana Vladutu topped Stephanie McLoughlin and Kailey Eaton, 8-0, at No. 1 doubles while Zaina Sufi and Rebeca Mitrea took care of Konstantina Adami and Jocelyn Koester by the same score at No. 3 singles.
DePaul swept the singles matches to give the team its eighth shut out of the year. Fargas beat Adami (6-1, 6-0) at No. 2 singles to put DePaul up, 2-0, and then Kelsey Lawson defeated Eaton in the No. 4 match, 6-1, 6-2, to give the Blue Demons a 3-0 lead. Jasmin Kling then clinched the match at No. 3 singles by virtue of a 6-1, 6-2 triumph over Grace Hyde.
Vladutu (No. 1), Sufi (No. 5) and Mitrea (No. 6) picked up the final three wins of the day for DePaul.
