Rice Snaps DePaul's 16-Match Winning Streak

HOUSTON, Texas -- The DePaul women's tennis team saw its 16-match win streak fall at the hands of Rice University on Saturday afternoon in Houston, Texas.
The 6-1 defeat was the Blue Demons' first loss since Jan. 26.
Jasmin Kling and Kelsey Lawson posted DePaul's only doubles win of the day, taking down Dominique Harmath and Alison Ho, 8-2, in the No. 2 match. The No. 51 doubles duo of Patricia Fargas and Ana Vladutu fell at No. 1 doubles and Rebeca Mitrea and Zaina Sufi dropped the No. 3 match.
In singles play, No. 97 Vladutu defeated No. 72 Natalie Beazant in three sets, 4-6, 7-5, 1-0 (10-4), at No. 1 singles after the Blue Demons dropped the five singles matches that finished before it. Vladutu's match was the only one that went to three sets.
With the loss, DePaul drops to 17-2 overall. Rice is now 13-5.
The Blue Demons will get right back to the courts tomorrow, they play No. 33 Houston at 11 a.m.
