Women's Tennis Tops Cincinnati, 6-1

CHICAGO -- The 39th-ranked DePaul women's tennis team got back into the win column on Saturday afternoon, downing visiting Cincinnati, 6-1, in Chicago.
The Blue Demons improved to 18-3 win the win, while the Bearcats fell to 9-13.
Despite losing the No. 1 doubles match, the Blue Demons rallied to claim the point by virtue of their wins in the No. 2 and No. 3 matches. At No. 2 doubles, Jasmin Kling and Kelsey Lawson defeated Carly Wilson and Katya Bure, 8-0, and Rebeca Mitrea and Zaina Sufi paired up to take down Hannah Wille and Ashleigh Witte, 8-3, at No. 3 doubles.
But in singles play, the Blue Demons separated themselves from the Bearcats by winning 5-of-6 matchups, cruising to the five-point victory. Ana Vladutu knocked off Kelly Poggensee-Wei, 6-2, ret., and Patricia Fargas won a three-set No. 2 match, beating Witte, 6-3, 5-7, 1-0.
DePaul won the No. 4, 5 and 6 singles matches with little resistance. Lawson handled Bure, 6-2, 6-0, Sufi topped Wille, 6-0, 6-1, and Mitrea defeated Wilson, 6-0, 6-0.
DePaul's victory over Cincinnati marked its second-to-last regular season match of the season. The Blue Demons play Marquette on April 19 in the regular season finale.
