TAMPA, Fla. - Earlier in the season Syracuse interrupted the DePaul women's tennis team while they were on quite a roll, snapping a nine-match Blue Demon win streak in February.

On Friday at the USF Varsity Courts, in the quarterfinals of the BIG EAST Women's Tennis Championship, the Blue Demons got their revenge with a 4-1 win over the Orange and a fifth straight trip to the semifinals.

By dispatching fourth-seeded Syracuse, No. 5 DePaul improves to 14-9 and will meet top-seeded and 21st nationally-ranked Notre Dame (15-8) on Saturday at 8:00 a.m. CT for a chance to move to the conference finals for the second time in program history.

Early in the match, the Blue Demons dug a hole by dropping two-of-three doubles matches to fall behind 1-0. Syracuse clinched the point on court two after a third doubles win by freshman Jarret Fisher and junior Kelsey Lawson.

DePaul bounced back immediately in singles, however, wrapping up four straight points to put away the match.

Leading off the solo round, freshman Matea Cutura improved to 16-6 at first singles and evened the score at 1-1 by making quick work of her opponent, Amanda Rodgers, by a score of 6-2, 6-4.

Lawson then took care of business at the fourth spot to give DePaul the lead with a 6-3, 6-3 win over Jimena Wu.

Following suit, Fisher moved to 2-0 in the tournament and won her seventh consecutive match at fifth singles with a 6-3, 7-5 result against SU's Breanna Bachini.

Leading 3-1, sophomore Patricia Fargas clinched the match and extended her singles win streak to six straight with a hard fought three-set win, 6-4, 3-6, 6-4 versus Maddie Kobelt.
