TAMPA, Fla. – Rain and severe weather shortened the final day of the BIG EAST Women’s Tennis Championship and DePaul and Louisville will share third place after it was determined that the courts were unplayable on Sunday.

DePaul finished its season 15-8 and won five of its last seven matches.  Playing eight ranked teams, the Blue Demons reached as high as No. 38 in the Campbell’s/ITA Team Poll.  Individually, freshman Jasmin Kling reached as high as No. 105 in the singles rankings while Gia McKnight and Kling ranked as high as No. 64 in the doubles poll.

The cancellation of the third place match it also marked the end of Blue Demon careers of Cali Gustafson and McKnight.   Gustafson tallied 95 wins during her career including a 61-44 doubles mark.  McKnight finishes her career ranked in the top five in singles and doubles victories.  McKnight combined for 175 wins during her four seasons and was ranked in the doubles poll with three different partners.

With the 2011-12 season in the books, DePaul returns Patricia Fargas, Kelsey Lawson, Rebeca Mitrea, Carolin Neumann and Kling next season.
