Fisher, Mitrea, Sufi Move On to Round of 16 at ITA Midwest Regional

ANN ARBOR, Mich. -- All three DePaul women's tennis players participating in the ITA Midwest Regional singles qualifying draw moved through to the Round of 16 on Thursday afternoon in Ann Arbor, Mich.
Rebeca Mitrea started the day off with a 6-4, 6-1 victory over Wright State's Vanessa Madrigal and followed up the performance with a hard-fought three-set win over Eastern Illinois' Janelle Prisner, 3-6, 6-2, 6-2. Then, Jarret Fisher, who received a first-round bye in the singles draw, knocked off Eastern Illinois' Sephora Boulbaheim in convincing fashion, 6-3, 6-0.
Zaina Sufi moved through to the Round of 16 by virtue of a 6-2, 6-1 triumph over Milwaukee's Hayley Marshall and a 6-1, 6-3 victory over Illinois State's Phyllis Tigges in the second round.
Tomorrow, Mitrea will square off in the Round of 16 against Toledo's Chrissy Coffman, Fisher will play Ohio State's Ferny Angeles Paz and Sufi will play Lauren Burich of Wisconsin.
In addition, three Blue Demon doubles pairs will compete in the main doubles draw tomorrow. Patricia Fargas and Mitrea will play a second round match Friday after they received a first round bye, Ana Vladutu will team with Jasmin Kling in the second round as well and Kelsey Lawson will play with Sufi in a first round match tomorrow morning.
