Two Doubles Pairs Move Through to Round of 16 in Ann Arbor

ANN ARBOR, Mich. -- DePaul capped a successful day at the ITA Midwest Regional at the University of Michigan on Friday afternoon.
Jarret Fisher began the day by advancing through to the main draw in singles play after moving into the quarterfinals of the qualifying draw by virtue of a 6-1, 7-5 triumph over Ferny Angeles Paz. Fisher, along with Ana Vladutu, Patrica Fargas, Jasmin Kling and Kelsey Lawson, will all compete in the singles main draw beginning tomorrow morning.
In doubles play, Fargas and Rebeca Mitrea beat Michigan State's Marina Borher and Athena Trouillot, 8-3, to advance to the Round of 16. Joining Fargas and Mitrea in the Round of 16 are Vladutu and Kling, who won two matches today. First the duo knocked off Mida Hamilton and Maddie Lipp of Northwestern, 8-5, before handling Notre Dame's Jane Fennelly and Julie Vrabel, 8-4.
Fargas and Mitrea were seeded ninth in doubles draw and received a first round bye.
The ITA Midwest Regional will continue tomorrow morning in Ann Arbor, Mich.
