ANN ARBOR, Mich. -- Ana Vladutu and Patricia Fargas led the DePaul charge on day three of the ITA Midwest Regional Tournament in Ann Arbor, Mich., on Saturday afternoon.

Both players advanced through to the Round of 16 in the main singles draw.

After receiving a first round bye, Vladutu defeated Ohio State's Gabriella DeSantis, 6-2, 3-6, 6-3, in the Round of 32. She will face Michigan's Sarah Lee tomorrow in the Round of 16. 

Fargas, meanwhile, also won her singles match today to keep her tournament alive. She picked up a three-set win (2-6, 6-2, 6-0) over Northwestern's Jillian Rooney in the Round of 32. Fargas will play Illinois' Allison Franklin tomorrow in the Round of 32.

DePaul's three other competitors in the main singles draw were all ousted from the regional today. Kelsey Lawson lost to Eastern Michigan's Diana Davitaia, 6-3, 6-3, Jarret Fisher fell to Eastern Michigan's Nino Mebuke, 6-4, 6-4, and Jasmin Kling dropped a three-set match to Michigan's Kristen Dodge (4-6, 6-4, 6-4).

Both Blue Demon doubles pairs dropped their Round of 16 matches today. Fargas played with Rebeca Mitrea, while Vladutu and Kling paired up; both duos lost 8-4 in their respective matches.



Play at the ITA Midwest Regional in Ann Arbor, Mich., continues tomorrow.
