Fargas Advances to Quarterfinals at Midwest Regional

ANN ARBOR, Mich. -- DePaul's Patricia Fargas advanced through to the quarterfinals of the main singles draw at the ITA Midwest Regional on Sunday in Ann Arbor, Mich.
Fargas, who advanced to the Round of 16 yesterday courtesy of a three-set win over Northwestern's Jillian Rooney, took down Illinois' Allison Falkin today, 7-5, 6-3. Falkin came into the tournament ranked 89th in the nation. She was the regional's fifth seed. Fargas will meet Michigan's Brooke Bolender in the quarterfinals tomorrow.
DePaul's other competitor in the singles draw, Ana Vladutu, dropped her Round of 16 match today (5-7, 6-1, 7-6 (8)) in roughly four hours to Michigan's Sarah Lee, who was the tournament's fourth seed and came into the week ranked 56th in the country.
Fargas and the Blue Demons continue play at the ITA Midwest Regional in Ann Arbor tomorrow morning.
