KALAMAZOO, Mich. -- DePaul newcomers Rebeca Mitrea and Carolin Neumann continued to lead the Blue Demons on the singles courts during the second day of the Western Michigan Super Challenge at the West Hills Athletics Club. Mitrea and Neumann each registered a singles win and improved to 2-0 in singles action during the tournament on Saturday.

Both drawing student-athletes from Penn State, Mitrea and Neumann each battled through three sets for their second singles win of the tournament.  Mitrea tallied her eighth win of the year when she topped Nina Setic 7-6, 3-6, 10-3.  Neumann improved to 4-6 on the season with her exciting 6-7, 6-1, 10-8 victory over Carmen Sandor.

Patricia Fargas tallied her team-best ninth win of the year with her two-set (6-4, 7-5) win over Chelsea Utting, also from Penn State.

On the doubles courts, Gia McKnight and Mitrea topped Iowa State’s Tess Lang and Maria Fernanda Macedo 8-6. Cali Gustafson and Neumann defeated Jenna Langhorst and Caroline Andersen from Iowa State, 9-8.

The Blue Demons close out the Super Challenge and the Fall portion of their schedule on Sunday.
