Nov. 11, 2012
KALAMAZOO, Mich. - Jasmin Kling and Jarret Fisher both capped undefeated weekends with flight championships as the DePaul women's tennis team added three more singles wins on Sunday at the WMU Super Challenge hosted by West Hills Athletic Club.
For the weekend, DePaul moved to 15-5 in singles play and wrapped up doubles with a 5-4 mark.
Kling rolled to a 6-3, 7-6 (6) straight set win over Quinn Gleason of Notre Dame, claiming the No. 2 singles draw. For Fisher, it wouldn't be so easy as the freshman had to battle through a 14-point tiebreaker to claim a 6-4, 6-7 (2), 1-0 (14) win over Indiana University's Sophie Garre. In taking the No. 4 draw, Fisher finished her first fall season of collegiate tennis with an unblemished 11-0 record.
Matea Cutura won her third-place match in the top draw, defeating Notre Dame's Jennifer Kellner in a tough three-set affair, 6-2, 4-6, 1-0 (1). Kelsey Lawson claimed the final Blue Demon win with a 6-2, 6-2 decision over Bowling Green State University's Katie Grubb in the No. 7 back draw final.
The Blue Demons will now take a break from competition until mid-January when the team heads to the Purdue Invitational from January 19-21.
