Women's Tennis Plays at the Wildcat Invitational this Weekend

CHICAGO -- The No. 45 DePaul women's tennis team opens the winter portion of its schedule at Northwestern's Wildcat Invitational at the Combe Indoor Tennis Center, Jan. 15-17.  The Blue Demons square off against student-athletes from No. 22 Vanderbilt and No. 2 Northwestern during the three-day tournament.

The Combe Indoor Tennis Center is a special place for the Blue Demon pair of senior Anna Redecsi and junior Selma Salkovic as the tandem claimed DePaul's first ever ITA Midwest Regional Championship on Oct. 27.  Redecsi and Salkovic enter the 2010 rankings at No. 9 after reaching the quarterfinals of the ITA Indoor Championship in November.

Redecsi and Salkovic posted a 10-2 record during the fall season, with their only losses coming against other ranked tandems.

The Blue Demons enter the invitational ranked No. 45 as a team; while they combined for a 35-26 effort in singles action, and were 22-13 in doubles play.

DePaul begins the dual portion of its schedule on Jan. 23 when it welcomes BIG EAST Conference foe Villanova and nonconference rival Butler for a dual doubleheader.  Action begins at 2 p.m. at the Lakeshore Athletic Club.
