No. 59 DePaul Faces Ball State and Western Michigan



CHICAGO The No. 59 DePaul women’s tennis team heads to Kalamazoo, Michigan this weekend for a pair of duals at West Hills Athletic Club.  The Blue Demons face Ball State on Saturday in a 2 p.m. (CST) neutral-court match before they take on No. 66 Western Michigan on Sunday at 1 p.m.

DePaul enters the weekend with a 3-1 record in dual play, while Ball State stands at 2-0 and WMU is currently 1-1.  The Blue Demons split a pair of road duals last weekend as they topped No. 38 Colorado, 4-3, on Saturday before falling to No. 47 Denver, 6-1, on Sunday.

Junior Dunja Antunovic enters the weekend with a No. 19 ranking in the latest ITA Midwest Region singles poll, while senior Gergana Ganeva sits at No. 25.  Antunovic holds a record of 2-2 in the top singles match and Ganeva carries a 2-2 record at No. 2 singles.  Senior Beatrix Csordas and freshman Selma Salkovic are a perfect 4-0 in doubles play, with two wins at No. 2 and two victories at No. 3.

The 2007 dual season saw DePaul split its meetings with Ball State and WMU.  The Blue Demons topped the Redbirds, 6-1, on January 28 before they suffered a 5-2 road loss to the Broncos on February 16.  DePaul has won its last five duals with Ball State, while WMU has defeated the Blue Demons in three of the last four duals.
