Women's Tennis Stumbles at No. 36 Purdue
The first singles match saw Beatrix Csordas on the wrong end of a 6-1, 6-2 decision against 63rd ranked Mallory Voelker. Dunja Antunovic suffered her first defeat of the dual season, falling 6-3, 6-1 to Brooke Beier at No. 2.
Petra Rehusova and Antunovic dropped an 8-3 match to Voelker and Beier, the nation’s 20th ranked duo, at No. 1 doubles. Kirsten Gambrell and Csordas lost an 8-2 decision to Neela vaez and Cigdem Duru in the second doubles flight, while Anja Mihaldinec and Bojana Murisic were dealt an 8-6 loss from Anna Dzeva and Alejandra Boeker in the third match.
"Purdue is a great team,” DePaul head coach Mark Ardizzone said. “We did not give the kind of energy and effort you need to play against their level of competition.”
The Blue Demons host Drake to the Lakeshore Athletic Club on Saturday, February 10 for a 1 p.m. dual.
