Women's Tennis Tops Michigan State For First Dual Win Of Year
EAST LANSING, MICH. (Feb. 5) - By sweeping the singles matches, the women's tennis team earned a 6-1 victory over Michigan State this past weekend. Laura Taylor was the only Blue Demon to have her match extended to three sets and the senior came away with the win at number one singles 4-6, 6-4, 6-3. The team also had dual meets with UAB and #55 Michigan falling in both 4-3. DePaul's record stands at 1-6 (0-1 Conference USA). Against UAB, the Blazers won the top three singles matches, while DePaul claimed matches four through six. UAB was able to sweep the doubles matches to earn the deciding point. In the closest winning match for the team, Stephanie Matko claimed a 7-6, 6-4 victory at number four singles. Facing 55th ranked Michigan, the Blue Demons jumped out to a solid start taking two of the three doubles matches picking up the doubles point. Taylor and Szilvia Keleman produced wins at the top two singles spots, but Michigan was able to win the final four singles matches and pull out the victory. vs. UAB (2/2)
