CHICAGO - The DePaul women's tennis team hits the road this weekend for duals at North Carolina State and Wake Forest this weekend. The Blue Demons square off at NC State on Friday at 4 p.m., while they dual with No. 46 Wake Forest on Sunday at noon.
The Blue Demons moved up to No. 37 in the Campbell's/ITA Collegiate team rankings on Feb. 4. DePaul started January No. 45 and moved to No. 37 after topping No. 33 Boise State last week at the ITA National Indoor Team qualifier.
DePaul is playing its most challenging scheduled to-date; the Blue Demons started 2010 by squaring off with student-athletes from No. 2 Northwestern and No. 22 Vanderbilt at the Wildcat Invitational while last weekend DePaul took on No. 6 Notre Dame and Boise State.
DePaul's first stop on its trip to North Carolina is at NC State. The Wolfpack opened their season with a 6-1 victory over East Carolina and is led by No. 45 Sandhya Nagaraj in singles play.
The Blue Demons face their fifth ranked squad of the season on Sunday at No. 46 Wake Forest. The Demon Deacons opened their season with three straight wins before dropping duals to VCU and Yale last weekend. Wake Forest is led by No. 49 Martina Pavelec who is 8-4 and is 2-1 against ranked singles players this season.
DePaul is led by Selma Salkovic, who is 11-5 in singles action, while she is ranked No. 9 when paired with Anna Redecsi in doubles play. Salkovic and Redecsi enter this weekend with a 16-4 record.
The Blue Demons stay on the road next weekend and travel to No. 49 Indiana on Feb. 13 and have a Valentine's Day dual at Western Michigan on Sunday.
