No. 37 DePaul Blows Past No. 46 Wake Forest
WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. - The No. 37 DePaul women's tennis team picked up its second win on its North Carolina weekend road trip. The Blue Demons, who defeated North Carolina State on Friday, dominated No. 46 Wake Forest, 6-1 on Saturday at Wake Forest's Indoor Tennis Center. Playing their third ranked opponent in the young dual season, the Blue Demons (5-1) took the doubles point which set the tone for the match. With two players sitting out with injuries, Wake Forest (3-3) had to forfeit the No. 3 doubles match while DePaul's No. 9 ranked tandem of Anna Redecsi and Selma Salkovic overtook the Demon Deacon pair of Sasha Kulikova and Emilee Malvhy, 8-5 to win at No. 1 and secure the doubles point. Gia McKnight and Katarina Milinkovic also won their doubles match as the Blue Demon pair battled with Aileen Davis and Katarina Reveche to a tie break before taking the match 8-7. DePaul started singles action with a 2-0 lead as the Demon Deacons forfeited the No. 6 match. The Blue Demons dominated singles play, losing just 13 game in four match victories. McKnight was the first to finish as the sophomore topped Anna Mydlowska 6-1, 6-1 in the No. 5 spot. Sandra Zmak followed suit in the No. 4 position and handed Davis a 6-2, 6-0 loss which ultimately clinched the match for the Blue Demons. With the match won, Redecsi topped Sasha Kulikova 6-3, 6-3 in the No. 1 singles match while Milinkovic registered a 6-1, 6-2 win over Reveche. The Blue Demons hit the road again next weekend and tangle at No. 49 Indiana on Feb. 13 before playing at Western Michigan on Sunday. DePaul 6, Wake Forest 1 Singles
