Women's Tennis Shuts Out Wisconsin



MADISON, Wis. – The DePaul women’s tennis team blanked Wisconsin with a 7-0 shutout on Sunday at the Nielsen Tennis Stadium.  The Blue Demons improve their dual record to 4-3 after taking the doubles point and all six singles matches from the Badgers.

 

DePaul opened the day with victories in the second and third doubles matches.  Anja Mihaldinec and Dunja Antunovic rolled past Morgan Tuttle and Chelsea Nusslock, 8-1, in the No. 2 flight; while Bojana Murisic and Kirsten Gambrell gave the Blue Demons an 8-5 win over Nicole Beck and Kim Roberts at No. 3.  DePaul’s only defeat of the day came in the top doubles match as Beatrix Csordas and Petra Rehusova fell, 8-6, to Kaylan Caiati and Elizabeth Carpenter.

 

Csordas earned revenge in singles action as she defeated Carpenter, 5-7, 6-3, 7-5, in the No. 2 match.  Antunovic posted a 6-2, 6-4 win over Caiati in the top flight, while Rehusova took down Nusslock, 6-2, 6-4, in the third match.  Gambrell earned a three-set victory at No. 4 as she defeated Erin Jobe, 4-6, 6-3, 10-6, and Murisic gave the Blue Demons a 6-4, 6-3 win over Roberts at No. 5.

 

DePaul won the sixth singles match by default.

 

The Blue Demons return to the court this Friday, February 16 as they bring No. 70 Western Michigan to the Lakeshore Athletic Club for a 6 p.m. dual.
