Sandra Zmak Earns BIG EAST Women's Tennis Player of the Week Honors
CHICAGO - DePaul women's tennis student-athlete Sandra Zmak was named the BIG EAST Conference Women's Tennis Player of the Week it was announced today by the league office. Zmak led No. 37 DePaul to a 2-0 week with road victories over North Carolina State on Feb. 5 and No. 46 Wake Forest on Feb. 6. The senior won convincingly 6-3, 6-0 in the No. 4 singles position over NC State's Daria Petrovic and teamed with senior Kristen Gambrell in the third doubles spot to earn an 8-4 win. Against Wake Forest, Zmak earned the clinching win in the No. 4 singles spot, a 6-2, 6-0 victory over Aileen Davis. In the second week of league award, Zmak is the first DePaul women's tennis player to earn the weekly honor this season. In 2009 Anna Redecsi was named the Player of the Week twice while Selma Salkovic and current Blue Demons assistant Dunja Antunovic were each honored once. The Blue Demons hit the road this weekend for duals at No. 49 Indiana on Feb. 13 before playing at Western Michigan on Feb. 14.
