No. 33 DePaul Wins Fourth Straight, Defeats No. 45 Indiana, 4-2
BLOOMINGTON, Ind. - The No. 33 DePaul women's tennis team won its fourth consecutive match with a 4-2 win over No. 45 Indiana at the IU Tennis Center on Saturday. The Blue Demons (6-1), who defeated their third ranked team of the season, won the doubles point before grinding out three singles win to seal the victory. The doubles matches finished in order as the Blue Demons won at No. 1 and No. 3, but Indiana (7-2) sandwiched a win in the middle. The No. 9 ranked pair of Anna Redecsi and Selma Salkovic won their fourth straight match and overtook Leslie Hureau and Myriam Sopel 8-4. Kirsten Gambrell and Sandra Zmak clinched the doubles point for the Blue Demons with an exciting 8-5 win over Maria Guerreiro and Katya Zapadalova. Heading into the singles action, Indiana got its point right back when Lindsey Stuckey defeated Gia McKnight 6-1, 6-2 in the number five match. Katarina Milinkovic gave DePaul back the lead with a 6-3, 7-5 win over Zapadalova in the two spot. Like a see-saw, Indiana tied the match again by winning the number two match. With four courts still seeing action, the reigning BIG EAST Conference Women's Tennis Player of the Week, Sandra Zmak saved set point twice and held on to win the first set 7-5. The second set mirrored the first as Zmak gritted out a 6-4 victory which gave DePaul a 3-2 lead. Redecsi, who was faced some of the nation's best, clinched the dual with a win in the number one spot. Redecsi battled through three sets and won her match 6-4, 3-6, 6-4.
