Women's Tennis Earns Victory at No. 70 Princeton
PRINCETON, N.J. The No. 71 DePaul women’s tennis team edged No. 70 Princeton, 4-3, on Saturday. The Blue Demons (6-3) took the doubles point and three singles matches from the Tigers (4-2) at the Jadwin Gym.
Senior Beatrix Csordas drove the Blue Demons to victory with a three-set win over Rebecca Parks at No. 4 singles. Csordas took the first set, 6-4, before Parks evened the match with a 6-0 win in the second set. Csordas fought back with a match-deciding 6-4 win in the third frame.
DePaul picked up two additional singles victories from sophomore Kirsten Gambrell and freshman Selma Salkovic. Gambrell notched a 6-0, 6-3 win over Taylor Marable at No. 6 singles and Salkovic rolled past Sarah Huah, 6-1, 6-2, in the No. 3 match.
The Blue Demons opened the day by taking the doubles point. Junior Dunja Antunovic joined Gambrell for a 9-8 win over Melissa Saiontz and Marable at No. 2 doubles, while senior Anja Mihaldinec teamed up with Salkovic for an 8-4 win over Kristen Scott and Huah in the No. 3 match.
DePaul opens BIG EAST Conference competition on Sunday with a 10 a.m. (CST) dual at St. John’s. The Blue Demons challenge the Red Storm (1-3) at the Alley Pond Tennis Center in Queens, New York.
