Anna Redecsi Named BIG EAST Conference Women's Tennis Player of the Week



CHICAGO - DePaul women's tennis student-athlete Anna Redecsi has been named the BIG EAST Conference Women's Tennis Player of the Week.  The league award is in its second week and Redecsi follows fellow senior Sandra Zmak, who was awarded the honor last week.

Redecsi helped the No. 33 Blue Demons to a 2-0 week as DePaul registered wins at No. 45 Indiana on Feb. 13 and at Western Michigan on Feb. 14. 

Playing in the number one singles position, the senior's 6-4, 3-6, 6-4 win at Indiana clinched a 5-2 dual victory for the Blue Demons. The next day, Redecsi registered a 7-5, 6-0 victory at Western Michigan. 

Redecsi has been successful all season with her doubles partner in junior Selma Salkovic. Playing in the number one doubles position; the tandem has won its last five matches and picked up an 8-4 win against the Hoosiers and an 8-2 victory over the Broncos. Redecsi and Salkovic sport an 18-4 record and are ranked ninth nationally.

Redecsi has earned the league's weekly honor three times in her career.  The senior was tabbed the Player of the Week twice as a junior.

The Blue Demons head to Louisville for a BIG EAST dual with the Cardinals on Saturday; the first serve is scheduled for 11 a.m. at the Bass-Rudd Tennis Center.
