Blue Demons Carry Eight-Match Win Streak East

CHICAGO -- The DePaul women's tennis team, which jumped eight spots in the latest ITA National Tennis Poll, travels to the east coast this weekend for three matches.
The No. 45 Blue Demons (9-1) play at Georgetown in Washington, D.C., on Friday (Feb. 21) before wrapping up the weekend with two matches on Saturday (Feb. 22) vs. Seton Hall (in Annapolis, Md.) and at Navy.
DePaul has won eight consecutive matches and is coming off a 3-0 weekend in Chicago the concluded just four days ago. The Blue Demons swept Michigan State on Sunday (Feb. 16) after defeating South Dakota State (6-1) and Milwaukee (7-0) on Saturday (Feb. 15).
The Blue Demons are a combined 42-11 in dual singles matches this year. Sophomore Zaina Sufi, who went 6-0 in singles and doubles play last weekend and was named the BIG EAST Player of the Week, has nine of those singles victories and has yet to lose a match this spring. Rebeca Mitrea holds a 9-1 dual singles mark, while Jasmin Kling (7-1 overall), Kelsey Lawson (7-1) and Patricia Fargas (5-3) are a combined 12-5 in the top three singles slots this spring. Ana Vladutu has five wins at the No. 2 position as well.
In doubles play, DePaul is 19-7 in dual matches.
Friday's match at Georgetown begins at 3 p.m. (CST), while Saturday's contests against Seton Hall and Navy start at 8 a.m. and 1 p.m., respectively.
