Women's Tennis Falls at Iowa
Dunja Antunovic posted a singles win to give the Blue Demons their only point in a 6-1 loss to the No. 59 Hawkeyes. DePaul faces BIG EAST rival Connecticut on Sunday in Milwaukee, Wisconsin.
IOWA CITY, Iowa – The DePaul women’s tennis team dropped a 6-1 decision to No. 59 Iowa on Friday at the Hawkeye Tennis and Recreation Complex. Dunja Antunovic delivered a singles victory to give the Blue Demons their only point of the dual.
Antunovic posted a 6-1, 7-6 victory over Iowa’s Jacqueline Lee at No. 1 singles. The Blue Demon sophomore is now 9-1 in dual season singles action and a perfect 6-0 when playing in the top flight.
The second singles match saw DePaul’s Petra Rehusova come up short in a hard-fought 6-2, 2-6 (10-7) loss to the Hawkeyes’ Mili Veselinovic.
Anja Mihaldinec joined Antunovic to deliver DePaul’s only doubles win, an 8-6 triumph over Veselinovic and Lee in the No. 1 match. Their victory was not enough, as the Hawkeyes took the other two matches and the doubles point.
The Blue Demons (5-5, 1-0) return to action on Sunday, February 25 with a pair of duals in Wisconsin. DePaul meets Connecticut for a BIG EAST dual at Marquette’s Helfaer Tennis Stadium in Milwaukee. The Blue Demons then travel to Elkorn for a non-conference dual with UW-GreenBay at the Four Lakes Athletic Club.
