COLUMBUS, Ohio – The DePaul women’s tennis team dropped a 6-1 decision to Ohio State on Friday at the Jesse Owens West Tennis Center. Dunja Antunovic gave the Blue Demons their only point with a singles victory.
Antunovic delivered a 1-6, 6-4, 6-4 victory over Ohio State’s Julie Blackmore in the top singles flight. The DePaul sophomore is now 11-1 in dual season singles action and a perfect 8-0 when playing in the No. 1 match.
The Blue Demons lost all three doubles matches to open the dual. Anja Mihaldinec and Antunovic fell 8-6 to Ally Muelleer and Blackmore at No. 1 doubles. Petra Rehusova and Kirsten Gambrell suffered an 8-7 loss to Sonia Ruzimovsky and Caitlin O’Keefe in the second match. The third flight saw Bojana Murisic and Clare Chmiel drop an 8-2 decision to Ciara Finucane and Kristin Messmer.
DePaul (6-6, 2-0 BIG EAST) returns to action this Sunday at Illinois State. The Blue Demons and the Redbirds are scheduled for a 1 p.m. start at the Evergreen Racquet Club in Bloomington, Illinois.
