Women's Tennis Weekly Release
CHICAGO - The No. 52 DePaul women's tennis team welcomes Butler and Dayton to the Lakeshore Athletic Club on Saturday for a doubleheader dual. The Blue Demons and Bulldogs square off at 2 p.m., and the Flyers take to the courts at 6 p.m.
Saturday's dual with Butler will also be "Campus Kids Day" and features a pizza party for kids in 2nd-8th grade. Kids will be able to sit on the courts during doubles action and will be able join the Blue Demons for some tennis activities prior to starting singles.
Campus Kids Day is an initiative by the United States Tennis Association and is designed to expose current and aspiring junior players to college tennis.
Ranked No. 52 in this week's ITA/Campbell's team tennis rankings the Blue Demons are looking to get back on track after squaring off with some of the best programs in the country last week at the Blue and Grey Tennis Invitational. DePaul fell to No. 9 Virginia and No. 36 Alabama, but were triumphant against No. 64 Auburn.
DePaul (8-6) has played one of the toughest schedules in the program's history - having already faced eight ranked opponents in 14 matches. The Blue Demons are 3-0 on their home courts and boast a 2-0 record in BIG EAST Conference matches this season.
Christiana Raymond, Katarina Milinkovic, Kelsey Lawson and Gia McKnight all have double-digit singles victories this season while Raymond leads the group with a 19-12 mark.
Milinkovic, who was named the league's player of the week on Feb. 16, has posted an impressive 10-2 mark in the number one singles position. The senior has won her last two matches and is 2-2 against ranked opponents this season.
Following this weekend's doubleheader the Blue Demons travel to Arizona State for a March 23rd dual.
