Cutura Earns Second BIG EAST Player of the Week Honors

PROVIDENCE, R.I. - Another undefeated weekend at first singles earned DePaul women's tennis freshman Matea Cutura her second BIG EAST Player of the Week award of the season, announced by the league office on Wednesday.
The recognition was the second of the season for the Zagreb, Croatia-native who continues to have a standout rookie season for the No. 75 Blue Demons.
Ranked No. 72 in the latest ITA singles rankings, Cutura holds a 23-5 record overall and is 13-3 at the number one spot during DePaul's dual match schedule. Additionally, Cutura has been at her best against talented opposition and boasts a 5-1 record against nationally-ranked opponents.
In doubles, Cutura has teamed with eight different partners for a 17-11 mark. Over the weekend, Cutura knocked off No. 68 Princeton's Lindsay Graff (7-6, 6-4) and No. 39 Yale's Madeleine Hamilton (6-1, 6-1) as DePaul split singles with two tough opponents, but ultimately lost each match by a 4-3 margin.
Cutura has won her last six singles matches and 11-of-13 since the beginning of February.
The Blue Demons will be back in action next on Tuesday, March 26, travelling to Fullerton, Calif. to meet Cal State Fullerton at 11:00 a.m. CT.
