Women's Tennis Finishes Weekend in Arizona



PHOENIX, Ariz. – The DePaul women’s tennis team closed out a weekend of round-robin competition with Kansas and Murray State on Saturday at the Phoenix Invitational.  Dunja Antunovic and Anja Mihaldinec earned a share of the doubles title as the tournament format was shortened due to rain.

 

Antunovic and Mihaldinec defeated two doubles teams from Murray State on their way to the co-championship.  The Blue Demon duo posted an 8-4 win over Anna and Rachael Lask and rolled past Angela McGahee and Lynsey Bochenek, 8-1.  Antunovic and Mihaldinec split the doubles title with Elizaveta Avdeeva and Edina Horvath of Kansas.

 

DePaul also picked up three wins over the Racers in singles play.  Kirsten Gambrell posted a 6-1, 6-2 win against Lyndsay Ottosen, Antunovic earned a 6-4, 6-2 victory over Anna Lask, and Mihaldinec defeated Adrianna Alvarez, 6-3, 6-0.

 

The Blue Demons return to their dual schedule on Saturday, March 31 with a 2 p.m. BIG EAST match at Cincinnati.
