March 25, 2013
CHICAGO - As part of its spring break trip, the DePaul women's tennis team will hook up with Cal State Fullerton on Tuesday afternoon at the Titan Courts. First serve is scheduled for 11:00 a.m.
DePaul (9-7) will be looking to snap a season-long five match losing streak after stomaching a quartet of close losses in the past month - including four of its past five by a score of 4-3 and three to ITA-ranked opponents.
Freshman standout Matea Cutura leads DePaul at the top spot in the order, where she has compiled a 13-3 dual record to go with a sterling 5-1 mark against ranked opposition. The Croatia-native is ranked No. 72 overall in the ITA's latest singles rankings.
Four other Blue Demons have reached double-digit win totals in the dual schedule and freshman Ana Vladutu (24-9) leads the team in overall victories. Cutura and junior captain Kelsey Lawson also form a formidable doubles tandem with a 9-1 overall record this spring.
Cal State Fullerton (10-10) is in the midst of a seven-match home stand and has put together a 9-6 record at the Titan Courts. The Titans have one ranked win at home and feature three players with double-digit singles wins.
Freshman Emilia Borkowski (13-7) leads the team in wins and has accumulated a 6-4 record at the fourth position. Junior Morgan McIntosh also has a winning record in the two hole with an 8-6 ledger. Sophomore Kalika Slevcove is 11-11 overall, playing mostly at the five.
