Abilene Christian beats women's tennis during spring trip



PHOENIX, Az - Without a full squad, the women's tennis team lost to Abilene Christian 6-1 during its spring trip to Phoenix, Az. The Blue Demons fielded five players and had to forfeit a singles match and a doubles match in the loss.

Kadi Hilpus claimed the lone point for the team with a straight sets 6-3, 6-4 victory at no. 2 singles. Hilpus improved her record to 11-9, while DePaul fell to 11-10 with the loss.

The doubles tandem of Sylvia Keleman and Stephanie Matko added a victory in doubles play, but defaulting at no. 3 doubles surrendered the doubles point to Abilene. The pair moved their record together to 10-2.

The Blue Demons were scheduled to play Grand Canyon State later Tuesday afternoon, but results were not yet available.
