Women's Tennis Tops Grand Canyon



PHOENIX, Az. (Mar. 27) - Despite having to default two matches for the second meet in a row, the DePaul women's tennis team won all five of its singles matches to claim a 5-2 victory over Grand Canyon.

Playing at no. 1 singles for the just the second time this year, Kadi Hilpus gave the team a 6-4, 6-3 win and pushed her record to 2-0 when playing in the top spot. Hilpus delivered DePaul its lone win in its meet against Abilene Christian earlier in the day and that performance helped bump her into the no. 1 singles position.

Szilvia Keleman was the only member of the team to be extended to three sets as she won 6-4, 4-6, 6-2, while Stephanie Matko, Karen Falduto and Rachel Dybas each cruised to easy straight sets victories.

DePaul moved its record to 12-10 with the win and will next play UIC on Wednesday, April 4. The Blue Demons will host the Flames at 2 p.m. at the Lakeshore Athletic Club.
