Women's Tennis Rallies Past Marquette

MILWAUKEE – Down after losing the doubles point, DePaul’s women’s tennis team rallied behind Brenda Leung and Petra Rehusova’s impressive singles performances to beat Marquette 4-3 on Wednesday.

“We escaped with a victory today,” head coach Mark Ardizzone said.

The match lasted almost five hours and ended in dramatic fashion.  Down 3-2 Leung rallied to win her third set and tie score at 3-3.  Rehusova then took over in dramatic fashion to give DePaul the victory. Down 5-3 in the second set she saved three match points, rallied to win second set 7-5. Down in third set 5-3 again saved a match point and then won the set 7-5.

"We didn’t play great today but we competed very hard,” Ardizzone said. “Petra showed some incredible fighting spirit and pulled through for her teammates.  A good team finds a way to get four points and picks each other up.  We did that today."
