Women's Tennis Rolls Past Cincinnati on Senior Day
CHICAGO The No. 59 DePaul women’s tennis team cruised to a 7-0 BIG EAST Conference victory over Cincinnati on Saturday. All five Blue Demon seniors posted wins as DePaul celebrated Senior Day at Lakeshore Athletic Club. The top doubles match saw seniors Beatrix Csordas and Gergana Ganeva roll to an 8-3 victory over Alizee Paradis and Jenny Rowen. Senior Clare Chmiel teamed up with junior Dunja Antunovic in the No. 2 doubles match, where the DePaul pair knocked off Jenn Keiner and Liz Young, 8-3. Antunovic improved her No. 1 singles record to 10-7 with a 6-2, 6-2 victory over Paradis in the top match. Ganeva defeated Keiner, 6-2, 6-0, at No. 2 singles, while Csordas posted a 6-2, 6-1 win over Young in the No. 3 match. Senior Anja Mihaldinec earned her ninth singles win of the spring with a 6-2, 6-2 victory over Rowen at No. 4 singles. The No. 5 singles match saw senior Bojana Murisic deliver a 6-1, 6-1 rout over Abby Mayo. DePaul won the No. 3 doubles match and No. 6 singles match by default, as Cincinnati played shorthanded. The Blue Demons (15-4, 4-0 BIG EAST) return to competition tomorrow in Milwaukee, Wisconsin with a neutral-court dual against BIG EAST rival Seton Hall. DePaul challenges the Pirates at 10 a.m. at the Helfaer Tennis Center.
