Women's Tennis Stops Seton Hall
MILWAUKEE, Wis. The No. 59 DePaul women’s tennis team posted a 7-0 shutout over BIG EAST Conference rival Seton Hall on Sunday. The Blue Demons improve to 16-4 on the season with a perfect 5-0 record in league play as they earned their seventh consecutive victory. DePaul opened the dual with a sweep of doubles play. Senior Gergana Ganeva and junior Dunja Antunovic blanked Denise Liebschner and Nadeza Shein, 8-0, in the top match, while Senior Beatrix Csordas and freshman Selma Salkovic posted an 8-4 victory over Amanda El-Tobgy and Belfin Sunbul in the No. 2 match. Senior Anja Mihaldinec and sophomore Kirsten Gambrell cruised past Liza Chu and Alexandra Harvey, 8-0, at No. 3 doubles. The Blue Demons continued their domination in singles competition. Ganeva rolled to a 6-1, 6-2 win over Liebschner in the top match and Salkovic posted a 6-2, 6-0 victory against Shein at No. 2 singles. Freshman Katarina Milinkovic defeated El-Tobgy, 6-3, 6-1, at No. 3, while Gambrell topped Sunbul, 6-3, 6-3, in the No. 4 match. Mihaldinec gave DePaul a 6-1, 6-1 victory over Slavina Kaplanska at No. 5 singles and senior Bojana Murisic delivered a 6-0, 6-2 win over Nathalie Ranger at No. 6. DePaul (16-4, 5-0 BIG EAST) has defeated 11 of its last 12 opponents. The Blue Demons return to action next weekend, April 11-12, with a pair of BIG EAST duals in Notre Dame, Indiana. DePaul faces No. 20 Notre Dame on Friday before challenging Marquette on Saturday. Friday’s first serve is set for 2 p.m. (CST) and Saturday’s dual begins at 9 a.m.
